The exhibition commemorates the 100th birth anniversary of an outstanding personality of post-war culture and a versatile artist. Apart from painting and drawing he was also engaged in sculpture, ceramics, graphic art, illustration and occasionally also in scenography. The display in the National Library features mainly the field of book illustration, for which he was awarded many times both in our country and abroad (for instance the Gold Medal at the Book Fair in Leipzig in 1965 for illustrations of The Song of Solomon also called Song of Songs, and the Silver Medal at the Biennial in São Paulo). Exhibited originals and reproductions of his works are on loan from the Gallery of Visual Arts in Havlíčkův Brod, displayed are also books from the NL collections.
