About the Slavonic Library
The Slavonic Library is a unique research institution and proud to be one of the most important Slavistic libraries in Europe. Since its foundation in 1924 the Slavonic Library has been systematically enlarging, processing, and preserving it collection to provide the public with the best possible access to information in the field of Slavistics. In its stacks the Slavonic Library preserves nearly 800, 000 volumes of library documents, maps, posters, visual and art materials, and collections of rare and precious documents. The Slavonic Library is an arm of the National Library of the Czech Republic; however in library and research policy it maintains an autonomous position as it does in Acquisition and Processing Services. Professional issues are handled by the Research Council. |
